Begin your day on the famous Settle Carlisle Railway to the high point of Ribblehead Viaduct, where we will be waiting at the station with one of our comfortable bikes all ready for your trip. You might like to visit the fascinating museum, on the station platform, which charts the history of the line and its construction. The route leads down under the line and along Blind Valley, where you will see the best view of the viaduct, down towards Chapel le Dale where early refreshments can be found at the Hill pub. Our route takes you off the busy main road and down the valley along a quiet lane into Ingleton, the potholing capital of the Dales. Here you can ride or walk up the bustling main street past shops, cafes (and cavers) where there are lots of places to stop for a breather before taking the road to Clapham. Dropping down into the pretty village of Clapham the route will take you past the church and alongside the stream to the New Inn by the old bridge at the centre of the village. Clapham is another place worth having a wander before returning to Settle through Lawkland, a gentler landscape with views across the Bowland Fells to the west, and north to the Lake District mountains. Back in Settle don't forget to take a look around, just a short walk from the station is the town centre with its famous Shambles, cafes and wine bar.
